About Us

Amos Deinard, DVM opened the doors of Nokomis Pet Clinic in 2009 to provide high quality, progressive medical care to the pets of owners who treat them as family members and understand and appreciate the value of the human-animal bond.

Dr. Amos was born and raised in Minneapolis.  He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, a PhD from Yale University and his DVM from the University of California, Davis.

After working in private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area, he moved to New Orleans.  While in New Orleans, he worked in private practice but also began his career helping Humane Societies and non-profit rescue groups.  Luckily, he left New Orleans three months before Hurricane Katrina to return to the Bay Area to accept a position at the Berkeley East-Bay Humane Society, where he served as both the Medical Director of the Humane Society as well as the head veterinarian of the public veterinary hospital.

Dr. Amos and his wife, Yukiko, moved back to the Twin Cities after their son was born to be closer to family.  They currently share their home with Thibodeaux (aka Big Baby T), a rescued Black and Tan Coonhound, whose favorite hobby is food.
